Will this pressure plate improve K40 - I've heard about the precision thickness of the plate, and also that the S8 cart's pressure plate was designed for K40, so I'm wondering how a plate designed for a thicker film can help k40 stability. Hey, if it works it works, but I wonder if it really will.
Any experience, anyone?

The pressureplate is a precission enginered piece, chrome plated. The development took long time. It seemed to be an trial and error job to find the right design.
I shot a test batch of PRO8mm film last year and the results on some of the filmstocks were horrible:
Heavy jitter and it was possible to see the film (in sections) actually "curl" at the filmport. If I was to shoot these films again I would invest in the PPlate without a hitch. The new K40 is normally exceptionally free of jitter. However, reports are saying that the focus stability is improved even on the new good carts. Improvement is even more on the VNF7240 and V200T.
I can confirm that the V200T is a litle jitery on my cam while the K40 is not without the PP.
If I was to use S8 for anything but pure amateur purpose I would buy the pressure plate. No doubt.
